1980's

MILTON WATER BOTTLES: Part of every schoolkids arsenal - along with a giant backpack and a lunchbox - essential for dealing with hot days at school. Given how hard the insulated shells were, they also became weapons in any fights that broke out. Somewhere around 6th standard it became really uncool to carry one around and everyone stopped.Byomkesh Bakshi, the Sherlock Holmes of Indian tele. Extremely understated and highly intellectual. For those days, I actually think it was a pretty good detective show.I AM A COMPLAN BOY: This was a nutritional product that most of us took. The face of the company was "the complan boy." His sister was a "complan girl."
This was a video called 'Ek titli' (one butterfly), an attempt at explaining the importance of unity to children. It used to be screened in every possible break on DoorDarshan, the Indian National television. It's an elaborate animation of a girl telling her younger brother a story in the form of a song. Highly entertaining! @Vik B @Divya Bhaskaran @Lekha KnuffmanVIKRAM AUR BETAAL: Children's program containing stories from Indian mythology that aim at teaching kids life lessons. However, most of us were really creeped out by "betaal," a vampire like character who would hang upside down on a tree in the center of a cremation ground!the RASNA GIRL - rasna was the drink and the this played on DD all the time. her line was " I love you Rasna". INDRAJAL COMICS: Series published by the TImes of India, which featured (among more common characters such as The Phantom and Mandrake) the distinctly indigenous Bahadur and his skintight pink turtlenecks. My uncle used to tell us stories about him and Bahadur fighting off "dacoits" in the mountains.

Time Management------a different angle

Best Time Management Tips (How to manage mountains of tasks in fistful of time?) * Don't do it! Unless heavens will fall. There is maximum chance that nobody will be tracking it far enough! * Delegate it Dont do it yourself unless it is disposing of the bomb you assembled! Don't keep the dog and bark yourself! * Put the ball back in the other's court Only the serious task will survive the volley. Encourage self service. It's so easy to just order a task. Answer question with a question! * Don't give it on a platter! Never give a solution better than the problem. * Take hell of a lot timeand demand for more! and nobody can blame you; you are still doing it!! * Don't touch it before the 11th hour! chances are it won't be required by that time without any side-effects! and by delaying, you can check whether the bugger really needed it! 90% of the tasks started are nothing more than noise, dust and tranquiliser pills to cover up for real thinking. * Start it with a lot of advertisement big-bang and park it silently behind the first bend! Majority of the times, all the task-giver wants is to see action-initiation. That's all! * Manage the expectations of the task-giver Put water on it! * Drag in the task-giver He will forget about it! (That's what he wanted when he gave it to you!!) * Postpone it Useless tasks are balls which come back to remind you automatically! All this is to separate the necessary from the unnecessary. Task generation has become the favourite passtime of the planet. As Philip says in his masterpiece book 'Life Strategies' - "Do what works, do what matters!!!" Only the task which matters should be done. Every other task is an overhead! Reduce your stress, live longer, get promoted!

O God, give us strength to overcome our mind (ourselves)
before attempting to conquer others, conquer oneself

Let us cleanse our mind of discrimination (of persons)
Let us try to forgive the mistakes of friends
Let us discard falsehood and follow the path of truth

Whatever the difficulties in the path, we will continue to work
We will tread the path of righteousness with the blessings of Dharma
We will possess self confidence to fight evil

Odds understood

Remember you bet the figure on right to win that on left

so...................4-1 means you bet 1 rs. to win 4......so total of 5 ................

Example

In considering a soccer match (the event) that can be either a 'home win', 'draw' or 'away win' (the outcomes) then the following odds might be encountered to represent the true chance of each of the three outcomes:
Home: Evens
Draw: 2-1
Away: 5-1
These odds can be represented as relative probabilities (or percentages by multiplying by 100) as follows:
Evens (or 1-1) corresponds to a relative probability of 12 (50%)
2-1 corresponds to a relative probability of 13 (3313%)
5-1 corresponds to a relative probability of 16 (1623%)
By adding the percentages together a total 'book' of 100% is achieved (representing a fair book). The bookmaker, in his wish to avail himself of a profit, will invariably reduce these odds. Consider the simplest model of reducing, which uses a proportional decreasing of odds

Gorilla ---man

A married couple at the Zoo walks past a gorilla enclosure.

Says the woman: 'Mark, do you know that gorillas are the only animals which resemble men in their behavior? Look, seeing that no one is looking, I'll expose one of my breasts to it and see how horny it gets just as men do.

'Mary then exposes one of her breasts, and, sure enough the gorilla gets excited and grabs the bars of the enclosure as if it wanted to break free. 'See,' says the woman, 'Now, I know why you react the way you do; men can't control their animal instincts just like gorillas can't.

'Says Mark: 'Now expose both breasts and let us see what happens. 'The woman exposes both breasts to the gorilla and it gets very excited and is now desperately trying to escape from the enclosure.

Says Mark: 'This is incredible, now, pull your skirt up, turn around and expose your bum and let us see what happens!'The woman pulls her skirt up, turns around with her bum to the gorilla, which by now, was extremely aroused, breaks free from the enclosure, grabs the woman and starts yanking the clothes off her.

The woman yells: 'Mark ,what do I do now? Please, help me!'Mark replies: 'Now, tell him you have a headache'. Let us see if Gorillas and men are the same.

Negative Positive

Stare at the colored dots on this girl’s nose for 30 seconds, then quickly look at a white wall or ceiling (or anything pure white) and start blinking rapidly. Congratulations, you just processed a negative with your brain!
